Amy Pfeffer from Buffalo uses her dog, Roxy, as a service dog in therapy sessions in addition to more traditional approaches. Roxy qualified as a service animal after Roxy finished the Pawsitive for Heroes training program (WNY Heroes).

Mrs. Pfeffer is also quite involved in her community as a volunteer, in addition to her professional responsibilities. Because of her work with children and teenagers, she has a strong desire to help others find innovative and healthy ways to use their time. She works with the Niagara Falls and Buffalo Veteran Court as a peer mentor. With Orchard Park Little League, she volunteered as a softball and tee-ball coach, and she also worked as a crisis hotline operator for Crisis Services.

She developed a deep admiration and respect for the men and women who serve in the military while serving in the United States Army. At the Buffalo and Niagara County Veteran Courts, she serves as a peer mentor in their honor. Additionally, she has taken part in Project Odyssey's photography workshop for military veterans. As a part of a mental health program for veterans, which aims to help military personnel overcome the invisible wounds they may have sustained during combat. To help other veterans after completing this program, Amy joins forces with the creator.

Child and Family Services in Buffalo, NY has also certified Amy Pfeffer as a Foster Care Provider. As a foster parent, she and her family have taken in a number of youngsters.
